As someone who sells cars, I really dislike PCP, I mean I get it from the business point of view, but personally I would never take it out, or recommend it, if someone wants it fine, but I would never push it.
on the other side, it makes no difference to me if its cash/pcp/pch so there is that, but then I wouldn't want to be sold something I don't want or need, if I ask for it, fair enough, if I'm asked, fair enough say no but don't push. The best line I heard (in a BMW dealership) ah but sir, you will be bored of your sporty 3l straight 6 in 3 years time, you want PCP! Yes that's right, you will be bored of your ultimate driving machine, in my eyes that was enough to walk away.... I would of thought even Dacia dealers wouldn't tell the customer they will be bored of the new pride and joy they are about to spend a not insignificant amount of money on! I don't work at a dealer, but have gone with friends to buy new cars, PCP is always pushed it seems no matter what brand! er, actually I have bought a car on PCP, but then paid it off as for some reason on PCP it was much cheaper than buying it without finance... Strictly speaking Salespeople shouldn't have incentives (or penalties) for funding a vehicle in a particular way as it encourages them to try and push customers into certain funding methods - this is a fundamental within the FCA regulations and also TCF (Treating Customers Fairly)
Sounds like the dealership you went to has a poorly set up commission structure for the salespeople which is ultimately detracting from the customer experience, which obviously shouldn't be the case. |

PCP from my understanding has this golden pot at the end of it's rainbow which promises some cash for your next arrangement. If the market changes that pot could melt away leaving you nothing
I like the up-front approach of PCH as it's all cut and dried, you know what you have to pay. Also I have seen some huge deposits on PCP deals A good place to see other peoples opinions is on Pistonheads General Gassing and search for best lease deals. It's up to Volume 6 and already up to 3008 out of 500 pages per version

PCH through Volvo Dealers
I've just looked at an on-line leasing site (Contract Hire & Leasing) for PCH of a V90 D4 Momentum (the vehicle I have). The quotes listed are from leasing comapnies and individual Volvo dealers. There are quotes from Helston Garages Volvo, Bells Northampton Volvo, and Lipscombe Volvo Maidstone. On the face of it this shows that Volvo dealers are interested in providing PCH.
In fact, I arranged the PCH on my Volvo V90 with Stoneacre Volvo Lincoln who quoted through an on-line leasing site, though all the subsequent paperwork and admin is with Volvo Car Leasing.
