What is the function of the little metal pipe pointing towards the driveshaft?

Have you got air con? If so it's probably the drain for that - easy way to check is to look for a damp patch in that location after use and you needn't worry.

Picture not very clear but it looks to me as though you are referring to one of the body support hooks that are used at the factory during assembly to transport the body shell from process to process.
