Hissing sound on acceleration D2 V50
Just said I would check here to see is there a common failure in a intercooler hose or manifold gasket or vacuum line or something similar that may cause this noise. Idles fine just under acceleration the volume goes up and its only new. Don't think its exhaust because it doesn't sound like a tractor. Had a route around intercooler hoses but cant see anything obvious. Thanks

The old mechanic's trick was to find a long screwdriver and place it on various pipes with your ear on the handle (honest).
This amplifies any noise and makes locating a leak easier. |

Not exactly 'our' engine but should give you a good idea about the location.

I’ve had the same problem as this which included a message stating engine performance reduced or something like that. I have just replaced the hose myself at home and take the car for a drive. Error message gone, car driving really well again, however the management light is still on. Does anyone know if it will go out eventually or does it need to be plugged in? Thanks

On previous cars I've owned the light has gone out after a few ignition cycles. Can't say for Volvo, though.

I've had this problem with my D4 V50. The hose just ruptures and then the intake loses pressure. The engine will stutter every now and then.
For an urgent fix to get home, duct tape holds it for about a week. Nobody here in South Africa seems to have a hose for me. Does anyone know the part number for one available in Europe I could buy online? |
