Default My XC60 D5 vs my wife's V40 CC D4

So, SWMBO collected her new car today, based on my recommendation she bought a Volvo V40 Cross Country D4 Geartronic. She loves it! After being allowed a little play in it I've come away with huge admiration for the D4/8 speed auto combo. First of all, we are limiting it to about 3000rpm for the first 1000 miles but even so it would leave my 215hp XC60 auto for dead! The refinement of the VEA is very impressive as is the marriage between engine and transmission. My only issue is that 400nm can very easily overwhelm the chassis but that can be fun too! Will be interesting to see if it has a drink problem! At the moment, 38mpg is showing on the computer, just driving locally but I'm confident that will improve with time.

My wife has the 2013 V40 D4 Geartronic (5-pot, 180bhp/6-speed auto) and that is quick! The new VEA D4 is even quicker.... sure will put a smile on your and your wife's face

It may be the only thing that can!

Yes the car is quick, even bordering on last gen 'hot hatch' quick! I really hope the next XC60 has a 'hot' version so that I can keep up with her.

The V40 is a fantastic car and there is no way an XC60 is going to match the handling, it would only be a competition on the straight.

Be interested to know the mpg when it has some miles on it. My wife has the D2 power shift version. There is a T5 AWD version as well!

My XC60 D5 is not a slow car by any means but the V40 CC D4 actually feels as quick as my previous car, a Mk6 Golf GTI! I guess thats the 400nm of torque making themselves felt, lol.

Can be given a RICA tweak as well. Sorry that's for the old D4. The new engine hasn't got a tweak yet.

201 hp @ 3800 rpm + 24 hp
451 Nm @ 2000 rpm + 51 Nm
