Default I learned something last night - Bambi come in pairs!

Driving home from footie last night, almost back at the house. Spotted a deer that had just skipped across the road. The lads & I were distracted when......

Flippin' hec, another one went for it and nearly hit us. I just saw it out of the corner of my eye (yes, like the lads, I too was admiring Bambi No.1). Slammed on the brakes and swerved to the nearside. Light snow on the road but thanks to the brand new Pirelli Scorpion Snow & Ice tyres + Volvo's electrical gizmo stuff (don't ask me what kit kicked in, as I was a bit busy to notice, but it felt like something did) - Bambi No.2, our beloved XC60 and the lads all got away unharmed.

The lads were well impressed with the car & driver's performance because, for them, it all happened without warning. I am just grateful that I spent all that money buying a decent car and getting it shod with four decent boots. This morning would have felt very different if I had lost my front bumper and possibly damaged some other body panels - this pair of deer were not your tiny midget ones (neither were they 'Lord of the Highlands' types either).

I have learned that Deer often come in two's.

Pleased the car performed well and you missed the deer. I love deer. I once had one bounce in front of me one morning when I was doing 60mph. Thankfully it was far enough ahead of me that I could just enjoy the moment and not have to slam the breaks on. Wonderfully graceful.

They also come in threes sometimes! Glad you're all okay and the deer too.

I like deer also. Especially when served with blueberries.

Try reindeer. Tasty on a plate, but in pre-catering form, they try to escape by running down the road in front of you (rather than across the road), making it even harder to avoid them.

But thanks as I had never heard of deer whistles before.

Arianne (we live in the Scottish Lowlands but deer live here too!)

Down here in East Hants 3 of my friends lost cars due to deer running or jumping into the road in front of them in a 12 month period. Fortunately the drivers were not injured.

It wouldn't have been the same outcome with the "wonderful" Pirelli Scorpion Asymetrico's that I have fitted!! Glad you came away unscathed though...
