Default Towing with the Geartronic

Hi, I have a 2004 S60 2.4L D5 with the Geartronic automatic. I have the Volvo detachable towbar (fitted from new)

I now wish to tow a Parker 235 yacht, the displacement inc trailer is 1850Kg

Is the detachable towbar rated for this load?? I can't find any information on it and will I need to have a transmission oil cooler fitted.

As long as it is within the train weight of your car and you can get the nose weight right I would think so. But that is likely to be over your kerbweight.

I think that the S60 D5 is a 1800kg max towing weight - so it might be pushing it a little. I have sent an email to my Volvo dealer - who I trust with regards to towing - they advised me very welll about mine.

Additionally 1850kg is quite a large multiplier for the car to trailer weight.

How long will you tow for? 10 miles, 100miles??? I presume the trailer is a twin-axle?

Dealer just got back to me

He says the S60 D5 is rated at 1600KG and would advise NOT trying to tow 1850KG with it.
