The car (V70 2.4 2000) was rear ended not so long ago and is now at a point of repair, the garage authorised by the insurance company say that the integral component to the bumper is also where the tow bar is fitted and therefore will also need replacement. Is this the case ?
Apologies, I must really invest in a Haynes, I always have in the past before but this forum makes it far too easy ! ( a roundabout way of saying what a great resource this place is - big up to all the forums users ! ) Edit Just ordered the Haynes, I think my actual question is that the garage is stipulating that they have to replace the towbar even tho its never been used (its a factory fitted detachable model which is in perfect condition). I just want to be sure they aren't adding extra items into the job. Last edited by Landslide; Jun 28th, 2011 at 10:02. |

as a mechanic my self i would replace the towbar if it has been involved in a rear end shunt, only an xray would be able to show any damage caused and im sure that you dont want to be towing a trailer or large caravan and it become detached from your car at 60mph, its not worth the risk i would change it
