Default R Design wing mirrors

Hi there, interested to know what people think of the R Design Matt chrome painted wing mirrors?

My partner is indifferent to them. I'm not keen and wondering if it will grow on me. We are hopefully picking up the R Design XC90 (old design) and wondering what my options are to replace the wing mirrors.

The dealership said others generally paint them to match the body work if they don't like them as this is cheaper than changing the casings. Interested to know what others think of the R design wing mirrors and if painting is the right option if I want them black to match the body of the car!

Thanks!

I have a V50 with those covers and like them.

I would advise just painting them as they do come off the wing mirror so isn't a difficult job.

Ah, thanks. The YouTube video I found didn't seem that straightforward and I'm worried about breaking the wing mirror. Hoping the wing mirrors will grow on me!

If in doubt get a professional to do it. After my experiences I wouldn't pay a Volvo dealer to do it but my local is a special kind of useless.

Had the matt chrome/aluminium look on the wing mirror covers on my last xc90 R design (14 plate) and I thought they looked ok. Currently running a xc70 (16 plate) and the mirror covers are colour coded to the rest of the car and look ok. I figure if you want the mirror covers to match the car then get them matched. Your motor do what you want to it.

If they are standard then just leave them, will be 1 less thing for someone to whinge about when you sell it later on.

Have picked up the car.

Ok, they're not as matt as I feared and actually look ok. They have grown on me during the drive home. Will.keep them!
