Having completed the two year Volvo course in how to spot, care for and live with a turtle, I feel I am in a strong position to comment upon the pattern of how amber warning lights, turtles and reduced performance appear in the VEA XC60:

There is no pattern

I have had all manner of combinations. Sometimes the turtle has appeared but we have not experienced restricted rpm. Last night we did and the similarity with an old non-turbo diesel is a good one.

I am thinking of listing my turtle on eBay to see if anyone would like to acquire it as a pet for their car! I once saw a Ford Galaxy owner list his rattle for sale on eBay........ with no reserve!

I have faith. I believe. Maybe Thursday Clelands Volvo will finally adopt my turtle and add it to the many others that they keep in that special pen hidden behind the tall fence in the corner.

Best wishes,

Arianne

Collected car today.
Two year service and repairs to wing mirror had been done.

Plus:
EGR cooler replaced.
Hose modifications carried out.
Checked and cleaned both Lambda probes.
Replaced rear Lambda probe.
Checked and cleaned pressure sensors.
Replaced inlet pressure sensor.
DPF regeneration carried out.
Checked for ECM upgrade, but not required.

With all the above, having been done, will this fix the problem?
A 2400 mile round trip to Italy, will be a good test.
Set off on Friday.

tem.

Trouble is the chemicals that have replaced lead produce highly toxic exhaust gases.

Put flies in leaded exhaust gas for a few minuets and they will recover when you take them out. Do the same with unleaded exhaust and they will be dead inside 2 minuets.

Exhaust from unleaded petrol is highly carcinogenic.
Unleaded fuel contains....

Aromatics-organic compounds based on the benzene ring, a 6-carbon ring with 3 delocalised double bonds, e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, etc.

Olefines-organic compounds which have double bonds. After combustion, one critical by-product is 1,3-butadiene.

Oxygenates-organic compounds containing oxygen molecules such as methane, ethane or MTBE (methyl-tertiary-butyl ether).

There is little regulation on unleaded exhaust as yet but until they start to clean it up I won't be buying a petrol car.

Ad blue does produce non harmful exhaust gas at least.

Perhaps, but unleaded also kills turtles. A significant bonus.

And if you put flies into a highly radioactive environment they survive - does that mean that humans will survive in the same environment?

Or alternatively put flies into a biologically toxic environment as see what happens to them.

What affects flies is not a cororally for the effects on human kind.

Owning a Volvo and joining this forum is educational, only here would the rich use of the English language be experienced on a owners' forum.

PS. Any solutions for Swallows that set up a nest every year in the apex of my roofline and neighbours houses? Apart from the mud (some of the mud hits the wall and sticks, some misses and falls onto the window sills - like life really then!) the little blighters poo all over the cars on the drive. Every morning, before my bike ride, I have to use the Poorboys Bird Sh#t Remover (that's actually what it's called on the bottle) to clean off the calling cards from the birds. Over the course of the Summer the deposits on the window sills grow like the floor of a cave in the tropics, not nice.

PPS. Just a tad off topic but thought I would ask. The source of all knowledge exists on this forum, concentrated on this particular thread

Some of the seagulls where I live, have 4 foot wing spans and bums to go with them.
They are on a bombing run just now and everything, including myself, has been targeted.
It happens, every year, at the breeding season.
Just had to wash a Goretex jacket.

Unfortunately being human I am subject to making errors and in this case the mistake was allowing Steve Jobs' automatic spelling checking function to operate plus I was foolish enough not to notice it's mistake - of course you wouldn't allow yourself to become guilty of suffering from human frailty, would you.
