What a bummer! was fitting new shocks on PV and had them nearly fastened up when I realised that the lower fixing rubber bushes had no metal bush inserted. Now I need to find a press and remove the bushes from the old rubbers and have them pressed into the new. Is this normal? Munroe shocks from VP autoparts.

Hello George, this is ok. The Monroes are delivered without the bush made of metall.
You won't need a press. To remove the old ones you will cut the old shocks with a flex and cut of the rubber bushes with a knife/cutter. The Bush made of metal you get easy into the new shocks with a vise and a few spanner sockets.

regards, Kay

When pushing steel inserts in , lubricate rubber with either soap or red rubbber grease . makes life so much simpler .

Avoid anything oil / petroleum based as that will ruin rubber

A G clamp or Vice will be enought to refit steel inserts
