If oil levels concern you I believe you can have a dipstick fitted.
I have an XC60 and was advised the police have the manual one fitted so asked the dealer who offered it for free. Just never got round to it.
If you have the car regularly serviced by a good dealer just pop down to them and get them to add 300ml of oil

It's actually the case for all VEA engines, even for P3 models

I would love a computer telling me the level, so much easier than doing it the old way, but then I am tech savvy (not mechanically mind you lol). Even so, my old P2 D5 has its level at half way between the high and low markers, I wouldn't top that up, only cause of what I've read on this forum, it's not like the older/other cars where its filled to the max, is that a pre DPF thing?

Why would OP/Volvo add oil if the level is correct?

having seen first hand what an extra 500ml of oil did to my old xc90 i would not put any in. Its a nearly new engine for cripes sake!!
if you are that fussed take a 500ml bottle and monitor the level. doing 2000+ miles to the Sof F every year in high temps i never had to put a drop in even when i had 80K on the clock.
