No different to anyone else watching the speedo in a 20 or 30 when taking your pont into consideration,, To point out, it's not like I'm glued to it. You don't need to look most of the time. But, if you read my quote again, there is nothing to actually suggest I am actually looking at it, you don't need to, it's obvious when it's going to be low or high, if you're using cruise control, that will always keep the instantaneous at its highest mpg, you try and beat it without the speed dropping. Best way to prove that is, with cc off, cruise along till you get to that tipping point where the mpg is the best you can get it, then turn on cruise and watch it go higher, I think it's the human touch being too heavy handed, cruise control is so spot on, and I did mention that I use cc as much as I can on every journey too, therefore I am vigilantly aware that the instantaneous is as high as it can be without even needing to look. With that said, there are times when you need to help it, such as in a 30, cc in normal drive will not change I to 5th, those times I will slap it into manual and put it into 5th,revs drop can only mean one thing, the impg goes up, sometimes you have to tweak it and its those times when I will keep an eye on the impg, but like in said, no more than you would in a 30,wher as your checking your speed and I'm checking the impg, I don't need to check the speed
hope that sets your mind at rest. Touching wood, I've been driving since 1995, used this practise for perhaps the last 15 years and not a single scratch, damn, that's a lie, I scuffed it putting it up on a car ramp, damn thing was too low lol
