I'm pretty certain that was with 215's too.
I was gutted to go back to Perfo's but on the current car (another T5) I'm really liking them...

Before you downsize on tyres, I'd check to see if Volvo recommend 215s on a 7.5 inch rim. Also bear in mind that the C70 wheels should be 2 mm further out from your wheel arch than S/V70 equivalent wheels.

This site might help:

Hi Tony, looking at that website (https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volvo/s70/1997/), it seems a 215/45x17 is fine -

215/45ZR17 91W 7.5Jx17 ET38 5x108 2.5 / 2.3

And looking at this site (https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/c...rim-size-chart) I could even go to a 205, but I think that would be pushing it tbh - I'd rather get some 17x7 Comets if I was going down that route.

edit - I fitted 215/45x17s to my black V70R, but they were on 17x7 Propuses, so the offset would have been 2mm different as well, as has been said.

Ah I was looking up V70 stats, they are different for the S70. There's actually a 5 mm difference between the C70 wheels and the 17 x 7.5 wheels recommended for the S70 so they shouldn't rub. That said, if Volvo recommend 215 x 45 x 17 on your car, 225 x 45 tyres would give a greater (incorrect) diameter.

That´s wrong, all first gen x70 wheels are ET43.

Thats what I thought tbh Peter!

I've just checked in the Accessories catalogue, and you're right - even the 7.5x17 Comet is ET43...

I've just bought a 2002 petrol V70 2.4 20V and it rubs on full lock with 225 45R17 tyres.
Previous owner said it's always done that. Tyres are new so don't want to change them.
Did someone say the lock can be restricted a touch by adjusting the stops so it won't rub.

Try the later forum, this section is for V70 up to 1999, and they may or may not be the same in this regard.
