Default Rear wheel bearing

I thought my brakes had worn but I jacked up the rear wheel with hand brake off ( well choked) and gave it a spin and there a noise - not sure if I would describe it as grinding.
There is no side ways play.

Is this the rear wheel bearing or could it be anything else?

I have tried to load a video - not sure it worked.

I ll try a onedrive link

Sorry to be posting again - just on a surge of car DIY

Here is a better vid with the wheel removed.
Doesn't sound like wheel bearing - but not sure what it is....

That's just the brake pads grinding on the brake disc. Not the wheel bearing. When the wheel bearing fails, it will sound like a droning noise when you are driving and it will louder the faster you go

Also check your disc protector.... the big plate at the rear isn't catching on the disc.... pull it out a bit at the bottoms to make sure its not rubbing.

They're probably binding due to a stiff handbrake mechanism on the caliper. With the handbrake in the off position remove the caliper and lubricate in behind the handbrake lever seal as water/moisture gets trapped in there, rots the shaft, and prevents it retracting fully. It's best to remove the lever plate (13mm nut) to gain proper access. Silicone grease is good for this.

Once you've got some lubricant in there, loosen then cap on the brake fluid reservoir, work the piston out using the handbrake lever on the caliper but, don't go too far, just enough to extend the dust bellows which sits around the piston. Clean off any brake dust and wind the piston back in using a clockwise direction. You can do this a few times and, with the piston fully wound in, refit the pads and caliper. Refit the reservoir cap, sit in the car and, without touching the handbrake lever in the car, pump the brake pedal several times until it becomes solid...this will set the automatic handbrake adjuster within the caliper. Take the car for a quick spin to let the pads settle. You can now apply the handbrake and, if needs be, adjust the handbrake lever travel...the adjuster is under the center console. Check your reservoir level once more.

If you would prefer a temporary quick fix leave everything in place and spray some PTFE in behind the seal. In my experience the sprays don't last long and the shaft and piston don't get a good service.

Default S40 disc grind

Thanks very much everyone for your input.
Defo points me in right direction.

Weather permitting - will be investigating and applying new knowledge.

I spent my £15 on some wind back calliper bits as thought I needed to replace it all - so I will be wanting to use these if only to explore Baffler suggestions.

I wont send the new discs and pads back until I m sure though...
