Default S60 D5 geartronic 2010

I have a question relating to a failing battery, can anyone advise please.

My elderly friend has an S60 ( from new) sadly its not driven enough to
keep the battery healthy, now only 15000 miles, on the second battery
which appears to be failing.

This car has a small match box sized ignition (keyless) electronic key/plug that has to be inserted into a dashboard socket to enable engine start

I can see where the battery is located and the terminals/battery mounts

I have two questions

When the battery fails can the battery be replaced and re connected without any " issues" ? by a competant persson ( meaning myself)
( meaning car systems or security having to be re set or re programmed)
