Default Volvo taking the mick!!!

So we purchased a 2013 V40 D3 a year ago.

Nice car from Volvo York with a years Volvo Select warranty. Also took out a three year servicing plan. We live down south so booked it in for a service a month before the warranty expired but they couldn't fit us in till just after it expired. Mentioned the gear linkage inside the car had popped off.

Half way through the day it was being serviced on had a call, they weren't sure if we were going to get anywhere with the claim as it has to be examined before the warranty expires....?!!!!! erm ok but you couldn't get us in any earlier!!!!

Then there was the standard 'tyres at the rear are down to 4mm...' long silence on the phone ...yeh ok?
Then pads all round 75% worn ....yeh ok ...how much? £400....mmmm think i'll do them muca!!!

Question is this standard for Volvo select warranties?

Can’t comment on the warranty issue but there argument will no dought be well you could of tried another dealer to check the warranty issue for you whilst it was still in warranty.

Brakes and tyres is standard trying to get money from servicing. That’s their job there getting worn change them early to keep the car tip top or like a sensible person you change them once they actually need changing. Some people just say yes and they have to pay for the showroom somehow.

Thumbs down Once they've got your money .....

My dealer (car new) came up against the same thing. Something had literally fallen off - no way I could have broken it off or damaged it - but it was not booked in for its service until a week after the warranty had expired. Fortunately they at least negotiated with Volvo that they would pay for the part if I paid for the labour, but its just yet another nail in Volvo's coffin for me.

You should have explained that the date they have given you takes it outside the warranty and they would have then had note of it. As for the tyres... they still have 2.4mm of legal tread around 25% so no point in changing them yet as that could be another5,000-10,000 miles and the brakes also have around 15,000 miles of wear left in them

I get that...they like to try it on...and yeh I can understand that if it had of been the Mrs but I was in my work clobber when I dropped it of. He asked me what I did for a living and I told him I was a licenced aircraft engineer. Maybe he thought although I put aircraft together I wouldn't be able to change some pads and go on black circle tyres.

Just find it annoying they should know their audience!

Couldn't get it booked in my closest dealer so went some 42 miles down the road to take it in. I told them when the warranty expired when it was booked and they said ok.

Not saying it will be the last Volvo we own I love them, but I don't think i'll be using Volvo franchised dealers again.

I'll just moan until I either get bored or they pay out :-)

I think you are still better off buying a used car from Volvo direct. If something big had gone wrong during the warranty, they would have sorted it without any quibbles. Try that at an independent dealer and you will probably have a very different conversation.
