Where are they now?
Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum but have found it very useful whilst doing a few odd jobs on my amazon recently. I'm the son of a volvoholic who has owned more than his fair share of 120's over the past 30 years but we are both still amazed at the number of cars that come up on Ebay that we've never seen before. This got us wondering where some of the amazons my dad's owned have ended up.... So we had a quick look through the family album and came up with these and if anyone has any info on their fate, please let me know... Cheers, Guy.

That's quite a fleet.
Unfortunately I don't recognise any of those. Have you tried the DVLA website to see if any off them are still on the road? Not completely accurate but might give an idea. |

thats a very impressive long list! use the direct.gov website, just type in the reg and the type of car,and it tells you when it was last taxed,or even if its still taxed.

Thats brilliant Derek, Cheers. I'm quite suprised at the high mortality rate so i'm going assume they're all undergoing extensive restorations and haven't been scrapped! Wishfull thinking eh? I'll have a quick look and see if any of his 140's are still alive now. Thanks again!

Hi,
When did you own GOU 716N? I owned this car from 1978 ish (paid £300) with rotten wings and front panel. I fitted second hand replacements and sprayed these panels only.It looked very good.I sold it at the end of 1985, for £600.The guy i bought it off, myself, and the guy i sold it too all came from Sheffield.I continued to service it for the new owner for a short while.Did you own it before or after me? I poured old engine oil into the sills and door panels at each oil change,if it is still around at least the doors should be in good condition. I remember it having a red rear fog light fitted (to the nearside), which was a mirror image of the petrol filler cap.It had obviously been used abroad and re registered in 1975 on an N reg. I have had many classic cars and have returned to an amazon a few years ago. I now have a 1970 122S in dark blue. Chris. |

Hi Chris,
My dad can't remember when he owned it, how long he had it, where it came from or where it went i'm afraid. But judging by the photos and my age on them it looks like late 88/89 so after you. And the rear fog lights in place along with 2 spotlights on the front. Also had a towbar. We're in Leeds so it travelled north a bit too. No rot on the doors and the best sills ever seen on a 2 door!!! |

Hi Chris. These are the only pics we have of the car.
Your current one looks great. We've got a '67 131 in green now but it doesn't look quite as good as yours. |

Hi - pardon me for interrupting your get-together. Chris, I had an Amazon the spitting image of your blue one - I love that colour, also had a blue wagon.
Actually, I have a blue wagon now too. Posted some in-progress pictures awhile ago, and will post again when the panels are fitted and the final cut-and-polish on the paint is done. Must be nice to see your old car; I restored a '70 122 and 25 years later saw it all rotted-out. I tried using roof-patch to seal the inner-fenders etc... but I guess it didn't last. |
