Default How to remove body-side chrome trim from 1967 1800S

Hi all,
I would like to try to remove the two chrome side-body trims (hockey sticks on the older models) from my 1967 1800S ahead of some paint detailing I intend to do over Xmas and also in order to remove some dents (http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?p=1759361).

What is the best method to remove the trim? I have a trim removal tool (see below) and the "NYLON TRIM REMOVAL TOOL" from Brookhouse.

Any advice would be welcome.

Phil

The most gentle way of doing this is to pinch the trim clips from behind, i.e. remove the door cards and compress the ends of the clips to gently push them through the holes. The trim clip removal tool can also be used but protect the paintwork to avoid chips, this is assuming you have the straight trims and not the actual hockey trims as they are held on by small nuts and need to be undone inside the door.
