Does anybody bother undersealing their cars?

As per title really. I've never bothered. A bloke up the street with a Suzuki 4x4 does it without fail every year. He doesn't off-road it. Is it worth it? Is it the done thing? I've seen Waxoyl used for this before.

The Volvo no as the factory protection is good enough. Previous v70 at 15 years old was rust free underneath.
Land rover yes as factory protection is total pants on a mid 90s car. I use old engine oil, have used waxoil in the Past on a car only to find it did not stop the rust and worse made welding it very difficult as it caught fire with ease and flames spread very quickly. On one occasion welding front of car saw flames at rear of car as waxoil in box section had caught fire and it spread inside the box section.
I know people will tell me that old engine oil is very acidic but I don't care, it gets where the Shultz does not and stops the damp eating the steel.

My sisters other half had a new boot floor at 3 years old in his suzuki swift due to it rotting through so not suprised hes doing it,

Modern cars are alot better at rust protection than older ones but plus people don't keep them as long anymore, how many older prefix cars do you see on road??

It seems to be more electrical failure that kills cars nowerdays than tin worm

Volvos they seem to have good protection from the factory. For me its also down to the hassle of doing it. You have to jack the car up and mess on with wax oil or similar and get it into all the places it needs to be. If I had a lift and a workshop then yeah I would probably do it if I was keeping the car long term

I waxoil my xc90 every year, just wait for a really warm day , usually in July, sure enough most of the underbody is rust free , but lots of bracketry and spare wheel rust away merryly if left, when I fitted a towbar when the car was just 6 years old the original towing point just fell to bits with rust when I removed it !

Undersealed + galvanised chassis from factory = no problem.

The underneath of my 2003 S60 is in really good nick, so i wouldn't need to do it tbh. I have done it to certain Fred Flintstone cars in years gone by though.

Mx5 owners even at mk3 still need them doing. Mk4 no one has seen the underneath.

In fairness it tends to be jap stuff that has none but japan do not use road salt for a start.

My mk3 is undersealed with dinitrol tip to toe. I fairly regularly top it up around the jacking points and other high wear areas.

Damper wise acf50 on there.

I am not so convinced volvo is perfect our C30 from 2010 definitely had rust on the chassis legs at the reardeveloping.
