Default Defrosting Windscreen

Hi all, I just noticed today that only half of the windscreen (driver's side) has the defrosting working. I don't think this is normal is it? Does anyone have any idea about what can be the issue?

Each side of the screen has separate connections under the plenum chamber so if the fuses are OK, check the connections too.

When this issue happened on a Ford I had, it was a new screen that was needed to fix it.

I really struggle with these screens at night. Does the element not bother anyone else?

Just back from the garage today, and a new windscreen is needed. I am actually quite surprised that I need to change the whole thing. Luckily I have a Premium warranty and that covers the cost. Only thing that its bothering me now is the fact that they want to put an aftermarket windscreen instead. Any thoughts?
