Default Interior seat material and vinyl

G'day Folks,

I'm trying to find a supplier for fabric and vinyl used in 1960s Volvo interiors.

On the interweb it is possible to find ready made kits in Sweden, Germany, Holland and the US of A for the interior code that I'm interested in => 40-197

Thing is - I don't want that! I'd like to repair what I've got - not replace with new.

I've already been in touch with Woolies trim - they can't help

Any ideas?

Head over to the 140 Series section of this forum where you’ll find an EXCELLENT write up that John Hughes has done on how he’s done up the vinyl in his beautiful 144. Inspirational and I’m in the process of following it step by step on the driver’s seat of my Amazon Estate

You can purchase the correct material from VP autoparts. Just quote the code on your vin plate

Great stuff thanks. I've already emailed them and already got a response!

I'd better get measuring...

I've also learnt that the early Amazon seats are the same and they also used the same 40-197 fabric combination (has a different number though)

The UK Amazons didn't get the seats with cloth centres and vinyl bolsters The PV seats are unique to the PV. The frames and floor mountings are different. The Amazon ones you have are from about '66. The Amazon ones pre '65 are fatter and flatter with no fake perforations. They don't fit PV's either.

Have you joined the Dutch Volvo Club, V44? Well worth it. Where are you in Holland?

Perhaps I've missed a subtle point:

The chaps at VP said I could fit these covers to first gen Amazon seats

http://www.vp-autoparts.se/main.aspx...tno=1201100416

And that that's the same colour combination as 40-197

As for the Volvo club - do you mean this one?

Your seats are 2nd generation Amazon, not 1st. PV 544 are like this.
