That's great news, thanks for letting us all know!

Can i just ask, if we hadn't "pushed" you into testing the RSR would you have discounted it from the diagnostic process as you thought it was a good one?

Hi... I clearly would have! I'm glad you guys were so helpful. Just goes to show doesn't it! I'm glad the car lives now! Still baffled as my other 940 runs and I used the rsr from that one and it didn't. But hey its working!
Regards
Darren

Certainly does! Not just on the relay itself but also on the diagnostics part, if you work through things in a methodical manner you get to the problem.

Some people start one end of the chain, others at the other end but they both get to the weak link eventually. Guessing which link is weak is like searching for a needle in a haystack!

Default 940 won't start

I have had a similar problem with my wife's 945 hpt auto. I had it turning over but not start so I pulled a plug, Bosch super 4, but it had a spark but didn't seem very wet with fuel. So I assumed it was a fuel issue. So I changed the old fuel filter.still wouldn't start. Blew the fuel lines out. Still wouldn't start. Fuel pump relay fine.Changed the fuel pump n it started. Ran it for 30-40 mins. Next day wouldn't start. Changed the fuel pressure regulator ran again. Next day wouldn't start again. Having a shed full of parts from a written off car I then changed the following trying to get it to start. The crank sensor,no,ECU,no,RSR,no.fuel reg off my 945,no. Spark plugs,no. Cleaned n checked cap n rotor arm (1yr old) plug leads 3months old,all fine.changed injectors n fuel rail,no. Changed throttle body/potentiometer,no. Vacuum lines fine. Turbo intercooler piping fine. Turbo recirculation diafram fine. Ran out of ideas. But going over the post n seeing the issue of the faulty cap gave me an idea. Even though I checked the coil with a multimeter before n got a good value n had a spark I changed the coil n it runs. I'm hopeful that is the issue. So even if something appears to be working check that too! Hope this helps someone. N if it's not fixed now I will kill it with fire!

What colour was the spark you had at the plugs and did you test the spark from the king lead to prove it would jump at least 1/2"?
