My 244 has developed a problem with the drivers side tail light.
When the headlights are turned on, only the right side of the drivers side tail lamp is lit. Sometimes the assembly will not come on at all. Also, the passenger side tail lamp assembly comes on, but the brake lamp is lit at the same time. With the head lights off, the brake lights work properly. Any ideas?

The problems you have are almost certainly the result of bad earthing of one or more of the lamp assemblies.
An easy way to check this is with a length of wire connected to a good earth point(the boot lid catch on the body will do nicely) then touch the other end to the metal body of the bulbs until the fault disappears. The problem can be anywhere from the bulb case through the printed circuit board and it`s connectors to the point where the wirng connects to the body.
Hope this is of some help,
Colin.
