Default XC60 Cost of front bumper replacement?

I somehow managed to damage my front bumper recently (nosed into a bush in a car park and didn't notice there was a post in there somewhere).

So there's a two inch indentation and a few scratches. The parking sensors are now inoperable (shows up as such on Sensus).

Wondering whether it's cheaper to get it fixed at my own expense or suffer the increased premiums with the insurance.

body shops can repair the plastic now although volvo supply pre painted bumper covers . Insurance will probably be cheaper , talk to them about it ...

Do you not need to have the radar unit re-aligned after removing the front bumper on these SPA models? Thats something the bodyshop cant do, it will be a dealer booking i suspect.

It is said that these bumpers shouldn't be repainted because the extra paint thickness affects the radar gubbins, so the official line is a new cover.

However, the Feds manage to slap their thick hi vis decals all over them with no ill effect, so dependant on the location of any sensors it might be possible for a smart repairer to do something with it.

This only applies to the rear bumper (if BLIS is fitted) as the radar units are in the bumper area.

The front radar is top-centre of the windscreen.

I had something similar in 2020, clipped a post whilst reversing which pulled the passenger side bumper off. Needed a whole new bumper to fix as the clips had all broken. From memory it was about £1300 but that included some plastic welding on a few of the brackets as well. Luckily the light wasn't damaged, apparently those were £1k just on their own!
I paid myself, had a £600 excess plus figured my insurance premium would be hit for the next 5 years so probably better to pay myself.

I don't really have any other advice than is already offered, but if it makes you feel better a recovery truck towing my Volvo to my garage for repair as starter motor needs replacing has driven and smashed my car into the garage gates so now need a new bumper myself.

I'm not paying for it, but the cost of the starter motor with labour is £750.

The rear bumper of our XC90 was repainted in the bodyshop of the Volvo dealer.
BLIS works as before.
