Well I think you've hit the nail on the head there. The work of any good craftsman is worth paying for, that why you bought a Volvo instead of a Kia isn't it?

We don't do cheap, we do fair. We're genuinely good at what we do and we do things properly or not at all. Unfortunately we have to compete with several less ethical companies but the customers who are hell bent on getting the cheapest aren't the customers for us. You bought a premium car. Why wouldn't you buy the best for it?

Many people wrongly assume that a map is a map wherever it's from, because they perceive the outcome to be the same. The thinking man will know there's a bit more to it than that. We want the customers who want the job doing right, whether that's tuning work, or normal mechanical work in our workshop.

Fair is our aim. We have a business to run and that involves paying wages, buying tools etc etc. But fair is what we want to be, not greedy. Lots of companies can give you "a map" and if that's what you're looking for then we'll never win that business because others are cheaper, but if you're looking for a proper map that's done properly, and are willing to pay a fair price for that, then we're the tuner for you.

Why would anyone buy a new car then invalidate the manufacturers warranty in search of a few extra bhp by having a remap from an independent/non authorised tuner?

Surely this mod is best left for cars out of warranty or people with endless amounts of money that wish to create a monster powerful new car and are not bothered about the warranty?

I have been selling the work of the Swedish software company MTE here in the UK for over 10 years now and I am not aware of any warranty, or for that matter, other issues having been created by our customers running with it.

Like Polestar MTE mainly use the very same tools that can be found in Volvo's engine development shop and the owner of MTE, Marco Alsterfalk who does most of their work has 2 masters degrees in related subjects and has the craft abilities that are also really quite important.

As has been stated it is the knowledge and abilities of those involved in this market that have great importance, together with possession of certain tools. Getting into the business ethics of those involved is exactly like entering a minefield.......blindfold......

The question of why owners would chose others over Polestar during the warranty period is most likely to come down to paying just a bit less for a product that in the case of MTE, has proven to be quite safe over many years in raising engine outputs without causing any discernable deterioration in components. This is certainly the case with 'stage 1' levels of callibration which require no physical changes to components and in respect of 'stage 2', where a complete 'sports exhaust' is specified to manage higher temperatures etc., and, it may be said, in cases of very much higher outputs where other costly replacement components, intercoolers, turbos etc. are required to attain those outputs and preserve the integrity of the engine.
