All these troubles are caused by the soot generated by the EGR problem. The soot goes everywhere and clogs the pipes.

Have a look at this web page:
https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/consu...1102/19&lng=en

And ask for a free repairing.

Clearly it's not fit for purpose in that the pipework is becoming blocked by soot that might reasonably be expected to be present in the exhaust manifold of a diesel engine, therefore Volvo should be fixing it for free. But how can this be blamed on EGR?

Nice to see the European Commission standing up for the rights of consumers.

Amen to that, said with gusto!!
Brief reprise, had the 3 EGR recalls including the so called "final" fix.
Had the EML come on but clear itself twice over the summer then in August stay on and when examined needed the major rebuild of new cylinders, valves, injectors blah, blah and 17hrs labour all paid for as "goodwill" by Volvo. But that "goodwill" didn't extend to finding a courtesy car for the week it was off the road resulting in losing a weeks holiday in Devon at a cost of £400+.
On a replacement holiday now in Northumberland and after 200 motorway speed miles up here and a further 100 on open country roads over the last couple of days and guess what? Yes, the ferkin EML is back on again!
Unlike Tony Blair, I thought, "things can only get worse", it seems I was right.
Replacement car already on order, you won't be surprised it's neither a diesel or a Volvo!
A few months ago I had this car down as a "keeper", now I can't wait to get shut!

After 17yrs of SUV's (Mazda Tribute [anyone remember them? Thought not!], 2 CRVs and 2 XC60's) I decided to go for an estate. With 2 dogs, their cages, beds and our clobber we need similar room to the 60 so I've gone for the Skoda Superb SE L 1.5 manual. Bigger boot than my XC60 and huge space in the passenger compartment.
Got a good deal through carwow, list price as spec'd £30,100, finance price £23,300, cash price £25,800. I went for finance because although I'll pay interest, over 4 yrs I save nearly £400 on the cash price. If I overpay and put the cashback from my P/E in a 4yr fixed savings account I'll cover the balloon payment, near as damn it.
I've gone manual as that's what I've always had by choice but I'm reading on various forums that the modern DSG auto is really good and reliable now they use "wet" clutches. Appreciate any thoughts/experience of them as I have some weeks to amend the order should I decide to.

My car is starting to run rough which may or not be related to the recall, but am holding off taking the car in to try and get everything done in one go.
My car got worse, in terms of rough running, so I had Marshalls of Nottingham look at it. Luckily the service manager picked it up and experienced the problem with the car when driving it to the garage. Although no error codes were logged, I ended up with a new EGR cooler, EGR valve and EMAP pipe (which was apparently blocked too). Thanks to Marshalls and also possibly due to a pre-emptive email I sent to Volvo CS, Volvo made a very generous contribution to the costs. They also carried out one of the initial tests for the recall issue with was a compression test. The car passed that passed OK. I was told the car will need to go in again for the recall work which has only partly be worked out so far.

My car has only done about 60 Kmiles.

Good choice, as you say, cavernous in the passenger compartment. I found the boot, while big to be pretty narrow as they make it a box, all the VAG group cars get that design, god know what is hidden behind the wheel arches in them all. Made it slightly annoying to put a bike in so I looked at Volvo. Was looking at them before I got the V60. Was in a taxi saloon superb a few years ago, it was fantastically comfortable.
My sister has a DSG in her Fabia and after a few teething troubles with the hill hold it seems to have been sorted with some software resets.
Ex colleague used to own a Skoda Yeti, said it was the best car he ever had (May not say much about the 335d xdrive he now has!

Hello

Are you sure that it's a test from the recall issue.
My dealer doesn't confirm.

According to the dealer, Volvo should send the recall fix letter by october.

Regards
Christophe

Erm, wheels? Sorry couldn't resist!
Funnily enough it was using a cab while Volvo left us car-less that got me interested in the Superb, humongous rear seat legroom and the boot is about 50L more, though as you say noticeably narrower. Overall I think its about 3" narrower but 9" longer than the XC60 so plenty of room for our gear, just have to configure it differently.
A couple of neighbours have Skoda's and swear by them, one guy had 5 series Beemers for years but wouldn't go back to them now. While they're a bit down market from Volvo they're quite an acceptable place to while away a few hours driving if my test drives are anything to go by. Certainly not low rent, even if the tech isn't quite as ipad as Volvo, I'm more a steam driven laptop man myself so Ill probably get along with it better.
This D4 engine excepted, I've enjoyed my 3 Volvos, they're really nice cars to drive and own but doing about 9K miles a year I couldn't see paying £40K for another XC60 and their other models either didn't fit the bill or were even more expensive.

If one tried to buy a new car on the basis of forum entries this thread would certainly put anyone off even going for a test drive!
However to just add a smidge of balance I can only report that my XC60 2015 FWD has been without any doubt the best (modern) car that I have ever owned. The free Egr fix was done at about 30k and now into 100k plus has been faultless since. Supremely comfortable, a great tow car and very economical.
I have it main dealer serviced and have the autobox fluid changed every 2 years. Currently running on Michelin Cross climates which are first class both in terms of grip and noise.
Just saying!
