At 6:30 I undo the main connector for the blower, then the small under cover (might need to remove 1-2 securing screws but not all the blower screws). Once these out, you can notice the second connector still attached: it's the connector from the resistor - simply remove it and connect your test resistor in place, then put back the main blower connector as well and give it a try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6MSCI59JUI

@ Boborange,
I knew my had gone south because the bloody thing wouldn’t turn off. Take the key out and walk away and the interior blowing kept running on. The fuse, for my 2005 V70 D5 AG least, was number three inside the drivers door jamb fuseboxes, on the end of the dash. It’s a 30A blade fuse. Check the fuse first, obviously. Then with the ignition on and the fan turned up, out a voltmeter across the terminals at the bottom of the fan motor. You might need to remove the glovebox to be able to remove the lower cover on the motor. It’s directly above the passengers left foot if someone were to be sitting in there. From my aging memory, the motor cover comes off once the glove box is removed, but you’ll need to remove the cover to the cabin filter and possibly cut a slot in the sound deadening to actually remove the motor. The motor must be removed to get to the resistor pack which is on top of it. I have no idea how to test the resistor pack, but it’s only £18 on eBay and I considered that likely and cheap enough to warrant a bit of a gamble in my case. |

I ended up buying a used OEM part from ebay instead of getting a new non-OEM part as heard these aren’t great.
This was about a year ago and so far so good. If you have removed the fan, I would always recommend replacing the resistor as they are the most common failure point and are very cheap for a non OEM part.

I replaced my blower motor at ther beginning of the year and purchased a Nissens unit. Its been fine so far.
I also replaced the control unit as well as a matter of course and that was a BEHR unit. |
