car starting problems
I am having a re recurring problem when starting my Volvo S40
When I turn the key it clicks over and over and eventually will start I have charged up my battery and I give it good runs once it’s started, what are the signs if the started motor is going? Where can you suggest going to find out if it needs replacing? And whether there’s a test available so you can get it checked out first... any help will be much grateful. |

Whats happening exactly then? You turn the key and it just clicks or does it spin at all and just not fire?

I was originally thinking it is the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator), but then again, I read that you are getting the fast ticking sound which indicates a bad battery, Even if you charge the battery, if it is on it's last legs, then you would be getting the same problem. Or it could be a combination of dodgy FPR and bad battery. Do you have access to another spare battery, that you can try on your car. This way you can start ruling out one thing at a time

Have you checked the fluid levels in the battery? A couple of weeks after a 'service', I experienced slow starting, eventually ticking - discovered the cells were half empty, topped them up and all was good.

Starting Problems
Hi im also having problems starting my car. When its left for 6 hours + it seems to take ages starting when you turn the key sometimes i have to turn it over for a minute +. although it 'bump' starts first time. Any suggestions anybody?
PS when the car does start it drives & runs perfectly. Thanks |
