2005 54 S60 Climate control fan will not switch off
Hi all,
I am new to this and not sure whether or not this is the right place to post my problem so apologies in advance if I am posting in the wrong place. I have a 2005 54 s60 D5 and the fan on the climate control sometimes stays on when i have it switched off on the dashboard. Sometimes the fan stays blowing even when I have switched the engine off and removed the key. Sometimes the fan stops of its own accord when the key is removed (after a delay) and sometimes I have to remove the fuse so my battery doesn't run flat. Has anybody experienced this problem before and/or does anybody know what the problem is/how to fix it? Thanks, Alex |

the fan should run about 15 minutes after you shut off the engine and lock the car it will run for about 20 minutes at low to medium speed to dry out the AC ducts . If it stays on at other times the fan speed controller will be faulty which is located in the bottom of the fan motor . Does it run at full speed when this happens?

Hi thanks for the reply, when the fan is running it will run at differing speeds but when you try to turn it off it continues to run, if that makes any sense? The only thing is I've had the car for two years and never noticed the fans still running after I've switched the engine off, it seems as if it has just started happening now? So I'm not sure whether or not it should happen. Also is this the right section to be posting in for my car? Thanks

FWIW it's never done it on my 54 (facelift) S60 in the 8 years I've had it (since new), but the fans used to cut in as described on my previous (MY02) S60. Always assumed it was a design change...
