Smile V50 Anti Skid will not reset after new Steering Rack

My 2008 V50 1.8S recently needed a new steering rack. After this was fitted some reset was required for sensors. Supposed to be drive forward, drive backwards, turn the wheel and job done.

However I now have a message saying that anti skid is temporarily off with the i illuminated on the dashboard. The mechanic has told me that no codes show on the laptop and the reset seems to work but the dash message will not clear.

Can anyone help me with this? I have two left hands so will be the middle man with any info so as simple as possible would be good! :-)

(The car had a brake service due to a message about 3-4 years ago. I had a part sent away to be reconditioned.)

Thanks spokoluzik. The guy who fitted the new steering rack said that the clockspring checked out ok when tested. Message now says Anti Skid Service required and also sometimes has the Anti Skid Temporarily Off.

Do you have any other possibilities for me?

Not sure if thats similar to my issue, but my colleague had steering rack replaced on 2008 S40 aswell, and although he has no warning on dash, VIDA is showing EPS-0050 fault related to EPS module. It looks like after installing rack/pump from another vehicle you should perform "mating" it to the car using VIDA or some software update by Volvo. His car drives well so except fault code that comes up immediately after clearing, there is no actual problem with steering so I am not messing with it more, but there is option in VIDA to "ERASE EPS" and maybe thats what should be done to perform clean installation, not sure.
I can only say that your friends laptop may be not picking up all codes -my generic reader for example wont pick up a lot of codes that VIDA does. Would help if you can hook up your car to actual DiCE unit and troubleshoot it...
