Cool Newie - volvo v40 GDi best quality petrol advice

How i wished i had known about this site before.
Recently bought a W reg volvo V40 GDi as our first foray into volvo motoring and so far we are very pleased. 114K on the clock but was a fleet car - only 14K done in the last 3 yrs and has had 9 services so far so well maintained.
Having look at various discusions however there seems to be the general opinion that the GDi engine is not the best, although fairly economical.
Everyone advises good quality petrol (not supermarket) and injection cleaners.
What is the best petrol quality petrol to use then? shell / texaco / esso and supermarket fuel seems to be the main ones available down here.
Any advice would be greatly appreciatted.
Duye to my lack of mechanical skills this will no doubt be the first of many queries.
Many thanks to all in advance who decide to advise

Half a bottle of redex in engine oil seems to be cropping up more and more often as a way of stopping the engine coking itself up
