Default Code P1651 ETS Light; Problem ISN"T the ETM

Car is a 1999 V70 Petrol Auto:

The dreaded ETS light came on, and could be cleared by my Scanguage reader. Came straight back on when I hit my cruise-control, but got no cruise. Lumpy idle, low power. Smell of petrol. A few minute would see the code. No CEL.

Fault code P1651 and sometimes P1620 or P0171.

Look-up vai Google and you'll not get agreement. "P1651 and OBD Volvo" and you'll find on most forums the wisdom goes that this is an ETM or cooling issue. It seems later Volvos have the code P1651 allocated to something else. I have a Sacer contactless ETM so thought the ETM was unlikely. I was right...

A smoke test found it. MAP sensor located midpoint on the radiator-cowling had a vacuum tube perished. MAP sensor itself was fine. A foot of tube and some clips sorted it.

Hope that helps somebody...

I've seen the ETS light come on when there's issues with the MAF circuit as well.
Did you do your own mod on the throttle body ?
