How irritating ! I have an intermittent screech on start up on the T5 and got so fed up I bought a Lisle stethoscope a couple of weeks ago. Have not made the time to use it yet but I have no doubt it will pick up the defective pulley, roller, whatever it is, in a jiffy. Approx 25 quid, not sure but suspect Amazon purchase |

The noise I have is slight at idle then gets worse up to 2k rpm then goes and comes back as the revs drop through 2k again. I'm now thinking maybe cam bearings?

If you can get the probe to the stethoscope down to the cam i gave every confidence if will provide the answer. What's with the low mileage beasts you own, garage Queens ? !! |

Only one spends its time in the garage, that's my BM that I've owed from new and only use 6 months of the year. My Volvo I've owed since 2007, the reason for the low mileage is I only live 5 minutes from work so no need to commute but my cars have always been my hobby.

Here's the one I took off. I don't think there was anything wrong with it so I'll keep it in stock.
