Wheel bearings?
My 855 has developed a noise when I go round reasonably sharp right hand bends. It sounds more like the rear brakes binding than a wheel bearing but could binding brakes be a symptom of worn wheel bearings?

Do you have standard rims and tyres?
If not, then the tyres might be rubbing on the wheel well. I think I have had this when I fitted various C70 rim and tyres combinations to my V70. Hope that helps. Steve

I think they're standard Steve - but I'll check. Thanks.

Most 1997-98-99 V70s have either 195/60V15 or 205/50W16
For your 855, it might be worthing looking at the size found here https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/search If the tyre has been rubbing, you will see a rub mark on the plastic wheel well liner. I would start at the left rear, take off the wheel, look where the top inside edge of the tyre might rub against the wheel liner. Steve

It would be worth checking the tightness of the driveshaft nuts. Both the 850s here have had one work loose recently.
It's quite common to fit 205/55x16 tyres instead of 205/50x16 because they are about 2/3 of the price and improve the ride slightly. That doesn't normally cause a problem, so if you've got them fitted there's probably another issue.

Just had the MOT done and it turns out the noise I was hearing was from the handbrake which is binding on one side and needs adjusting.

I would order a set of shoes, they tend not to cope well with binding.
