Angry Wont start in the cold

V70 T5 2.3 Turbo 1998

Initial problems with the immobiliser alarm screaming when the doors central unlocking activated.

Then occasionally in the cold (-1 degree) the engine cranks but wont fire - I got a ODB readout of P0340 Camshaft A Sensor and P0116 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance Problem

Replaced key fob and main batteries, these problems disappeared. Or so I thought.

It is cold again, and I had to boost the battery with a starting pack as the voltage had dropped to 12v, once the engine was going the charge rate was 13.7v, today it packed in again, cranks but wont fire, battery voltage 12v.

Any thoughts?

Power drain?. Check lights on doors/ footwell, there's a microswitch in the door catch that's supposed to kill the lights when doors closed. Sometimes goes sticky & the lights remain on drawing power. Flat battery = alarm fault.

What about the output from the alternator?

Could also be a number of other things mind. Good luck with the hunt!

The starting issue could also be the antenna ring around the ignition barrel...see Paul's thread 'The Old Random No Start Syndrome'
