Just seen this thread and your comment about the seat pocket filling with water, I daresay yours is LHD, but do you mean the hard plastic one located on the side of the drivers seat?? If so, then I had this exact same mystery for around a year, every so often I would end up with the pocket wet, and then making the rear floor behind the seat wet. Tried a year to trace, originally thought it was dropped hinge, but rebushing the hinges made no difference. Finally traced to the roof gutter above the door, on my 940 the roof gutter has a join with the front screen side trim near the front of the car, on looking from above there was a small hole in the joint actually in the gutter channel. Applied a bit of non setting butyl gutter sealant to fill the hole, and I have not had the problem since. Hope that may assist. Cheers Steve PS - Sorry I meant to explain the water was tracking through the hole and reappearing inside the door rubber seal, then dripping directly into the pocket...... But yes, my car is LHD and that's the plastic pocket I meant, with a tiny bit of carpet lining inside. To be perfectly honest, I'm not really visualizing what you mean just from memory. I need to check the area tomorrow to make sense of your comment, but I'm assuming you have to be right. I mean. That's a very odd and specific place for water to pool. It has to be like drops falling directly inside it. Not many ways it can happen I suppose. The water on the floor is still messing me. It can't be coolant because the matrix is bypassed, but when I touch it, it kinda feels sticky on my fingers and today I absorbed some moisture from the carpet with a white tissue and it was brown, not green, but brown, like black tea stains. Maybe just from the carpet being dirty, but makes me doubt...

Hi SalvadorP
Hope you manage to find the solution to this, I had to stand on the top of the drivers door cill and lean over the roof to look very closely in the roof gutter at that joint. In my case, once I found this area I poured some water on it whilst looking inside with the door shut. After a few seconds beads of water appeared on the inside of the door and just happened to drip directly into the seat pocket. Left to dry in the sun, and used a hairdryer to ensure it was dry before putting sealant over the hole in the gutter. I park the car on level ground so the slope of the pocket bottom directed water to the rear passenger footwell, if however you perhaps park facing downhill, then I’m sure it could easily fill the front footwell as the pocket is virtually above the main crossmember under the seat. Seat position front to back, will also determine if this leak fills the front or back with water. Good luck, Cheers Steve PS. I have just found the photos I originally posted on here, and hopefully. That may assist. Last edited by Steve 940; Jan 19th, 2024 at 09:47. |

Does your car have a sunroof? If so that is the most common cause of leaks |

No sunroof, thankfully. Quote:
That is a very good point Steve. I hand't thought that it really depends on the position of the seat. Mine is always all the way forward, because I like to drive with more bent legs, and I'm a short guy (aka portuguese male). But I will look at the places you mentioned/showed me. My car is also parked on level ground. I haven't checked if the carpet on the back is dry, but I cleaned the car and didn't notice any water. Gotta touch it today to make sure.
