Nice, but not worth 9 grand.

Not even worth half that on a good day. It'll be for sale for a long long time and spawn a few copy cats who think it's a realistic price.

Paid 1.9K for mine in a similar condition to that with 3 inch of service history.

It's about what I paid for my low mileage 1997 CD estate - in 2003!

For a low mileage, well taken care of one with LHD, the price is not unrealistic...

In the UK it's unrealistic

Default 940 TIC auto 1995 300000 miles

Very expensive to me but a neighbour paid £12000 for a G reg 240 gl estate in mint condition with low miles .
I love the 900s now but just can't pay that money at moment for a vintage car

I opened this up and from the subject of the thread half expected to read about a Saab 9000. I nearly choked on my coffee when I realised it was a 940 for £9000! I agree it's nice but it's not £9000 nice.

Like buses, here's another one appeared for 9 grand on facebook, and this one is an absolute belter. Almost exactly the same bpu as mine, minus the black leather and midnight purple colour. So about 12k for mine? 🤔🥰

Quote:
1998 Volvo 940
£9,950
2.3 PETROL TURBO (LPT).
5 SPEED MANUAL.
EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE AT ONLY 27,840 MILES!
7 SEATER.
2 KEEPERS FROM NEW.
FULL SERVICE HISTORY WITH A STACK OF INVOICES.
CAMBELT REPLACED IN MARCH OF 2020 AT 26,428 MILES.
LAST SERVICED IN MARCH OF 2022, AT 27,196 MILES.
MOT TO MARCH 2024.

This is a ‘Celebration’ model, the last hoorah of the 940, and indeed the old rear wheel drive Volvo range. It benefits from remote centra locking, air conditioning, heated half leather interior, wood dash trim and leather steering wheel. The car also has the optional extra rear dog guard/ load barrier, pull-out load cover, third row seats and floor snow trays.
The mileage is ridiculously low - it is common to see these cars with over 250k miles on them and still going strong!

There are a few small marks and scratches to the exterior as would be expected of a car of this age, but overall, the exterior is superb – she turns a lot of heads! The interior is immaculate. Please have a good look through the photographs.

This was supposed to be a long term, money-no-object project for me for the next few years but unfortunately life has got in the way, and I simply do not have the time to continue it. I have owned various 940s over the years, and this is the lowest mileage and nicest example I have ever seen, let alone owned!

The car has had a lot of money poured into it while it has been in my ownership. It has recently had the full ignition system replaced, including distributor cap and arm. Every engine hose and clamp has been replaced with silicone and stainless-steel clamps. The exhaust was very expensive and is a full 3” turbo-back, stainless Martelius exhaust from Sweden, with a sports cat. Factory ‘Turbo’ airbox lid with a K&N panel filter. AEM wideband, Stack boost gauge and temperature gauge in a custom-made housing in the dashboard where the cubby used to be. The car has a manual boost controller set to 8PSI – matching that of the factory high-pressure turbo engine. Ultra Racing lower strut brace. Kilen lowering springs with a new set of OEM quality shock absorbers. The strut rod bushes have been replaced with poly-bushes. The plan with the car was to build the cleanest looking and best built 940 in the UK – I have not cut corners! She drives beautifully with no knocks or rattles. The engine is strong and smooth and the clutch and gearbox precise.

I have collected as many of the rare 940 accessories and parts as possible, including the 16” Volvo Galaxy wheels currently fitted to the car. Also included in the price is a very rare factory 940 estate rear spoiler, as well as a set of reproduction accessory side skirts to match the front lip fitted to the car already. Also included is a complete set of MTEC black edition C hook brake discs, pads, clips, handbrake setup and Hel braided brake lines. I have kept every original part that has been replaced on the car, all of which will also be included.

Viewing welcomed. Any questions, please call any time.
I guarantee you will not find a nicer one outside of Volvos Museum!
