Default Ex police V70 help please.

Hi all,
I have a few problems with a car that I picked up yesterday, its a 2012 V70 2.4
It's an ex police car, I read somewhere on here that they disconnect the hazard lights for some reason, does anybody know how to reconnect them? The switch is plugged in, is it as simple as a fuse?
Also the satnav and radio displays have been removed, I can get new displays from fleabay but it doesn't look like there is any wiring in the huge hole I have in my dashboard.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul.

I don't think that the hazard lights were disconnected, certainly not when I was at work.

The sat Nav and radio were never fitted to Police cars the space in the dash was used for the police radio and other equipment.

Be careful when you are ordering parts as the brakes, wheels and suspension were modified for police use so it is always best to quote your chassis number to the dealer.

Ok, thanks.
Well the indicator lights certainly work but not when the hazard light switch is pressed, hopefully it's something simple.
With regards to the modified equipment, it has a booklet in the user manual listing all the part numbers which is handy.
I'm guessing it's just a loom that's missing for the satnav screen then.

Don't know but it is probably a lot more complicated than that.

As has been said the Plod spec cars were quite different, including the wiring looms. Adding SatNav isn't as simple as just buying the unit, there's software and other issues as well.

Unless you can find a "how to" where someone has done it - you're best option is aftermarket radios and Sat Nav.

Paul,

The Volvo factory display screen on your vehicle, (I assume it’s OU12 A**) originally was moved from the original top dash location to where the factory cup holder would be. The top dash had the cleartone ANPR system screen there. You should find the connections had been extended to reach the cupholder, I.e. behind the gear lever.

Unfortunately, the screen is paired to your media unit, so a random second hand unit is 99% likely not to work. You will need a new unit. It is possible the screen was removed when decommissioning and not refitted or supplied!

Perfect!

Im more interested in making it asthetically pleasing for now.
There a jumble of wires just shoved in the cupholder location some of which are audio and VGA type connectors so hopefully as you say some of these are extensions from the dashboard.

Anyway got good news last night from the chap I bought it from, the service paperwork has come through, new engine 50k ago...hoorah!

Oh and I sorted the hazard light problem, the switch was just unplugged.
So just some tidying up to do now.

Some more info on Police spec https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=274678

Mine never had a SatNav but the radio worked just fine bar them disconnecting the speaker cable to the driver's side!

Oh & tell your insurance the differences as yours won't be on their normal list of Volvo spec
