Default Breaking 89 GLT estate Grey

Hi all, Its a sad day but it looks as though the 240 GLT estate I bought for my mum to tool around in is about to got to Valhalla.

Now before people get all aggressive about needlessly breaking another GLT This car has tin worm in the rear arches that has been tarted up and spread quite badly. Most of the panels except the tail gate and bonnet have got rust, scratches, dents on.
The thing that has really sealed this cars fait is that there is rust around the screen. The screen has been cracked and on trying to get another one fitted (auto glass) we where told they wouldn't fit a screen as its to rusty!

The car it self seems good mechanically other than suffering from 240 fuse box illness. It goes well, stops well and from the inside is a very pleasant place to be. The clincher is this. I have been offered 400 euros for most of the high ticket items. I doubt anyone will want to give me the equivalent in sterling for it so. The rest of the car is up for breaking. despite the fact its MOT'd until July.

The spoken for high ticket items include.

Virgo's
Full black leather interior & door cards.
Full electric window set up and related components.
Full electric mirrors and components.
Engine and fuel injection set up

Things of interest which are available include.

Electric sunroof and components. No I've never seen one either but its there.
Excellent complete new style tailgate.
Glass
Lights, rear are both shinny and in good condition.
Exterior trims
Suspension, anti roll bars a good up grade for non GLT cars
Newish cargo rear end. IE heavy duty shocks and springs.
7 seater conversion.
Dog Guard. (not sure how complete it is but will obviously check if anyones interested.)
I am sure there are many other odds and sod's so please feel free to ask.
I am not sure about the gear box yet but just incase its the 5 speed manual.

Now I am not a professional breaker and will be doing this at weekends or as the time presents it's self. Therefore I may not be able to get things posted out immediately. If you need it on the fly then go to Volvo. I feel it necessary to make people aware of this after a recent forum experience.

Cheers Steve

What condition are the bumper top trims in? I'm looking for a black set (both front and rear) but it's difficult to find some that aren't shrunk or warped by the sun, or bent and twisted by 20 years of hard use!

I'd also be interested in pics of the electric sunroof setup. To be honest I'm unlikely to buy it as I don't want to cut into my car, 20 year old roofs ALWAYS leak, and I doubt seals are available for it. But I'd like to see pictures, just for posterity.

Will post pic's of the roof. Know what you mean. I want to put it on my 240 but came up with the same conclusion as you. It would need to be a braver man than I. the galling thing is it doesn't leak at the moment.

Will check condition of trims. I know the fronts are good but as you say the rears have so often shrunk.

Steve, items of black trim from font end enabling me to de-chrome my GL ie headlight eyebrows and the strip across the top of the front bumper that is chrome on other models; I believe it unclips easily?

No rush to action or reply I know you will be busy and theyre not urgent.

Thank you

Jon

Price for left-hand side rear cluster, posted, please. PM if you prefer. I have until November to either replace the cluster or take the bulb out from the foglight before the MOT.

Hi Steve, I'd be very interested in the seats if they are leather. Can you give me a bell on 01255 436683? Thanks, Dave.
