Hello again,

James, just one thing I noticed about the car on ebay. It's a saloon, as is mine, and has a spoiler. Mine has no spoiler, BUT I WANT ONE!! :)

Would the pre-facelift model spoiler fit the facelift model? And also if you did get the car, then would you be parting with the spoiler? Obviously I'd need to somehow respray it metallic green, but that may not be so noticable if done with a spray ca, and is not as big as a front valence. If you would part with it, what sort of price would we be looking at?

Cheers,

Crispin

I'm not getting that 460 - we're getting a 440 that was on ebay. I'm not sure if they're compatible - much easier to speak to Dave :)

cheers

James

Yo!

James-did you miss out the 'not' at the beginning of that last post?!

With regards to splitting up with my last girlfriend, yes, it was a good thing. When we were at Crooked Billet that time....let's just say it was 'hard work'!

Whats the deal with this Santa Pod thing? I wouldn't race my car, bless her-you would stand a chance yes, but i don't drive her (that) hard! I could do 30mph up the strip, if thats ok...you might get the edge on me then lol! Are there a few VOC members going or is it a general thing? And how much? And is it an overnight thang or just a day thing? (I would presume overnight if you're 'partying' after!) 101 questions....sorry! Would be good to see your 360 and Matt's 440- i haven't seen it since CB that first time.

Crispy D-no one's buying that 460-it was just drawing attention to the fact there was one there. And further to your question, getting hold of a spoiler for a 460 should be no problem. Just get out the Yellow Pages and look for Volvo breakers, or type in Volvo breakers on Google. Fitting wouldn't be much hassle either.

Anyway....yapping AGAIN!

Who? Me?! Can't prove a thing.... (The power of the 'Edit' button...)

We turn up nice and early, and make a few runs up the strip. You can go as easily as you like, but c'mon...it's only a 1/4 mile, and cars benefit from a bit of stick from time to time - there's no harm in it as long as they're good and warm!

I doubt Matt will be there, and as far as I'm aware there won't be any other VOC people there, although there is a bit of overlap. The names you may recognise who'll be there are Chesh and Griz. There is a stopover happening, but its not an open house - furthermore I'm not stopping - early start in the morning! Best to take this to email if you wanna know more on that front. Even better, do you have AOL Instant Messenger? Turbobricks have a chatroom on there...

cheers

James

Hello, I'd definitely be interested in a spoiler. Any more information available on one? New/used/paint/postage/PRICE/etc??

Many thanks,

Crispin

Hey all/Dan/Foggy/Dave.

The bodykitted 440 is proving to be a problem, as what foggy said, original plan was for me to trailor it back to hq here in Blackpool, but i cant do it on my licence. I'm really reluctant to pay 200 quid to get it professionally towed back, does anyone live close to south wales that wants to go get it?

As for my 440, its changed a bit since a few of you last saw it. Its now sporting a 16v twin cam head, on a 2 litre block, running megasquirt and fast road cams, induction kit, fat twin exhaust. 0-60 is around the 6-7 second mark. On the cards is a turbo conversion for the engine, only at low boost mind. Yeah its nice and quick, and as I'm slowly getting older, insurance isn't so much of a problem so I can afford to pay for these goodies.

As for how hard it was to swap the engine, it was actually quite difficult. The engines may share the same mounts, but thats were the similaritys stay. I've had to have a lot of custom metal work done, the master cylinder brake expansion bottle has been moved, this had to be custom made. Luckly for me my dad is a metal basher with welder friends, so I get all the custom stuff done for low prices!

I got married in August last year, and moved away from home into my own place, so bills are upon me, moneys tighter, wife to look after and all that, and as I brought the wife over from America, I need to budget in for trips back to the states to see her family when we can, so this is taking a toll on money with the volvo!

I'm currently driving a Ford Escort (shock horror!) whilst I've got the 440 in bits (yet again!). However I do plan to do some meets this year, and certainly do at least one track day - would any 400 series owners be up for this?

Cheers and talk to you all soon!

Dan give us a call sometime matey, don't be a stranger = 07974 976825.

Matt

Give you a call....i never have credit on my phone! I do have a picture phone now though, so if you want to send me a picture of your 440, that would be great! 07746 933727 on the lousy O2 network is where you'll find me!

With regards to some track days, i'd love to, but it's financing the trip, entry cost's etc-i am still a student lamo so money is still tight! Wouldn't mind going to one of the VOC meets this year though-you know, a big one where every one lives in fields and tents for a day or so!

Sounds like the 440 is looking quite impressive anyway-if we can get to a (same) meet this year, you'll have to take me for a blast. All the engineering you've done, you should start up a Volvo performance garage or something-then being a fellow 440 owner you could do work on mine and Jame's car as 'promotional work'for free!! Sounds like a good idea, yes??!!!!

I'd love to be able to help out with the bodykit situation, but again it boils down to time and money. I know what it's like doing loads of legwork and other people just cashing in on the end result-if i could help i would-but the only thing i'll be doing in the meantime is saving up for a front spoiler if we can get enough people up for it.

Marriage....ooohhh, you're brave ;-) Not for me for a while!

Good to hear form you again anyway-don't you be a stranger either you bugger!

Speak soon,
Dan M

Garage idea is not a bad one! Not sure theres that much demand though for a 400 series performance specialist, I guess i could muscle in on the 480 crowd at www.volvo-480-europe.org - but then id be treading on a well respected Mr Dave Slater and his turf!

However if you ever do want anything doing on your 440, give us a call, i'm sure I can give you a hand! It needs a good tune up anyway from what I remember, have you got the valves breathing nice and easy yet? (induction kit + exhaust).

You broke up with ur g/f from crooked billet? Shame that dude, she seemed alrite................. although she did prevent us from erm... testing our two 440s out :P

Matt.

I got a call from Matt earlier...
...We provisionally have some good news ;) Watch this space...

How about we all go to the National (Malvern this year)? There's a young driver (sub 25) prize, but they always screw it up so no-one wins....but it's good for a laugh!
Then there are the Tbricks and PCS (Crooked Billet) meets...

We should get on the case anyway...

cheers

James
