That could be an attractive option! Can I ask why you took them off and replaced with hex nuts and caps?.......... just curious in case I am missing a trick

Okay, just been out to garage. Good news is I still have them. Bad news is I only have 10!. However, all 10 are in good condition and looking back I think I probably threw away any that were slightly minced.

Reason I changed is that I run steel wheels with winter tyres through winter. These looked odd with the fancy alloy sleeved nuts and so I bought plain steel nuts. Didn't take me long to realise these are far more solid and don't run the risk of rounding off. Took me even less time to work out I could use them with the alloys in summer, finished off with some silver caps as widely available on EBay.

If interested, PM me your address and I'll post the 10 out to you. Happy for you to PayPal me the cost of postage once you've received. Guessing this would be £4 or less?

Also, final tip, always use a hex head socket (i.e. 6 point) rather than multipoint on the alloy sleeved nuts. Far less likely to round off.

EDIT: or you can collect for free from Perth ( during working hours)

I never even thought of putting steel nuts with caps on. Would these be the same ones the fit?

I am definitely interested in your offer but the steel nut option might be better as the reasons you said?

Excellent, I will order the steel nuts then and that will stop any problems in the future with the chrome caps. Thanks alot for your help, saved me a fair bit of cash!

Still cannot believe I have lost 2 wheel nuts but glad I spotted it!

Sorry, just realised the nuts in link you sent don't have a flanged taper. They need this to bed against alloy. I'll try and find the exact ones I ordered but for info, should look more like this (note price is for a set of 5).

Sorry for only flagging now.

I got a full set of 20 from http://www.skandix.de/en/ recently. They do them for £2.44 each for their own label - my set of 20 was about £65 delivered - or a (Volvo) set of 10 for just under £40..

Cheers,
Geoff

I have cancelled the order for the wheel nuts. I see what you mean about needing the tapered nuts which are compatible with the alloys. 2nd time lucky!
