http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_500wt_1154 if you want them do let me know and I'll take them off immediately, but please bear in mind that I need the space quite urgently (hence the ebay listing). thank you all |

I have wondered about older wheels with hub caps for my 1992 240. Has anyone done that and how does it look? (I don't much like wheel trims, less practical in my view.)
How much tread on those tyres please calibano, what makes are they, and how old are the tyres, any signs of trouble with them? What is the white fibres area next to the dent in the edge of one rim? Last edited by Stephen Edwin; Jul 18th, 2010 at 23:36. |

You might have seen the wheels thru the link they're not suited to later 240 models in my humble opinion, but surely they will fit will check tomorrow but I am pretty sure at least 2 of them are old michelin ZX. these were fitted to the car when I bought it, tread is visible in pictures, I'd say they have less then half of their life still in them, but bear in mind they're quite old. hope this helps, will come up with complete details tomorrow. |

I take it you mean you consider they won't look right. Well some owners update to alloys and I'm thinking of undoing Volvo's update of covers/trims by going to hub caps. I just don't like the bits of plastic catching brake dust and with many crevices to clean, and I don't want to go to alloys. There's some shiny trim on the SE so it should look OK, except to people in the know about model specs.
Anyway, I'm not far from you (Thurrock) so I can collect, and the hub caps and wheels look generally sound in the pics, so I'm interested. Looking forward to your further info in here. I guess you can't send messages here yet, so if we get towards doing a deal I suggest the eBay message system? (Hope that doesn't break forum etiquette.) Cheers - Stephen |

ciao stephen,
I'm more than happy to do the deal with you, if you can clear out everything for the ebay initial asking price. you are more than welcome to send me a message thru ebay to confirm and I'll take them down. the matter is really down to how pedantic you are. and I am, when it comes to matching same era accessories, quite a lot. leonardo btw, the other two are nexen and the spare wheel is another make which i don't remember as it is back in the car it looks in better shape than the rest, though. so there you have 2 michelin X "energy" and 2 nexen. |
