  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

You could try SGS Engineering of Derby, they have a variety of struts and end fittings available.

I have not interest in the company other than being a satisfied customer.

Smile Does it fit MKII 2008 XC70?

Hi,

I was wondering if the thwo ends of the strut can be unscrewed to replace those for the XC70 MKII 2008.

The original ones are 170mm.

I can't see any way to unscrew them, but why do you need to?
Somebody else has (earlier in this thread) fitted these new ones to an XC70 and not mentioned any problems.

Because I can’t pull the strut off the ball head. So two ends remain attached at the grill guard.

Am I doing something wrong?

First you need to fold the back of the back seats down so the dog guard can go further than its normal down position. Then you need to remove the wire clips that hold the balls in the sockets. Rotate the wire clip first to release it, then pull it out from its locating hole. Once you have done that, the strut just lifts off with no force required.

My Xc70 model is 2008 and the ends of the strut does not have the clips. That’s why I unscrewed them
