Can STOP / START be disabled
I find this feature very annoying and would be interested to know if it were possible to disable it.
I know one can switch it off each time you get in the car, and when in Sport Mode but would love to be able to disable it permanently.

Of course it can be, find a local chiptuning garage and ask them.

Been a while but I'll have access to this soon. Can you suggest how?

Install VDash. Connect your PC/Laptop with an internet connection to the car with a DiCE unit and a battery support charger. They recommend any charger capable of 10A output, as the car ignition will be on the whole time that the CEM cracking process runs, but I found that my V40 never needed more than 6A during the process. Run the procedure to crack the CEM PIN code. Google will find articles that cover this in detail, but it runs a procedure whilst connected to the VDash servers, which basically throws PIN codes at the car until it finds the one that unlocks your CEM. It can take 5 minutes if you're the sort of person who wins the lottery, or anywhere up to 24 hours with a reasonably fast PC. I initially tried using an old netbook that I use to run other diagnostic software, and it was still churning through the routine after 3 days. Switched to a spare desktop PC that I set up in the garage and it finished after a further 20 minutes or so! https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...acking-Process https://nordcarolina.com/blog/2019/3...n-volvo-hacker Once that is done, go into the VDash config menus and under Start/Stop you can select the option you require. I'd recommend the default marked option which is that the system defaults to always off, but you can enable it using the button below the waterfall console, so basically the opposite of the Volvo default. You can disable it altogether if you prefer. Once you've added that to the basket, the cost of running the update will be shown. It's free to install VDash and run the CEM cracking process for personal use, but reprogramming and configuration options are chargeable. It used to be that you could only see the price after adding the option to the basket, but the prices are now also on the VDash site: https://d5t5.com/wiki/wiki/article-pricelist They do seem to vary from time to time. Currently Start/Stop removal is shown as 71 euros inc VAT, but I think I paid 40 euros when I did mine. When you've added the options you want and uploaded sufficient credit, you can run the procedure to reprogram the CEM. All done, and once you've paid for a particular option you can reconfigure it as often as you like at no additional cost. |

It'll be a little while before I attempt this but I have to say; that is a proper answer to a question. I'd love to read your detailed version if that was your summary
Brilliant! Thanks very much. Oh, will the stop start support battery become redundant thereafter?

If you have a tow bar then I believe inserting a 'dummy' trailer plug will inhibit the stop/start

Definitely wouldn't want to remove or replace the support battery; apparently need to remove the front bumper to get to it. If the battery were to get disabled or ignored by the system when stop/start were disabled then it would also save the major hassle of replacing it in the future.
