You joke about the 1UZ-FE.... does it just "drop in" as you say? In which case I may get a bit more lax about the oil changes on my redblock.... "oh no! need a new engine "

Who was joking?

As with any engine swap, unless you're changing to something like a B230 from a B200 or a 2.0 Pinto from a 1.6 Pinto or similar, inevitably there will be certain things to change, modify and so on.

However, the Toyota A341 auto box is a thinly disguised AW70 so use the rear extension housing from the AW70 and associated seal, bush, flange etc and the Volvo gearbox cross-member and you straightaway have the gearbox mounted and no need to change the propshaft.

As for engine mounts, that is where i start coming unstuck. However once you sort those and any modification to the sump or anything else, that leaves the fuel/ignition and exhaust systems.
The exhaust would be down to your imagination but i see no reason why something similar to the 760 couldn't be used and bring the left hand downpipe over the top of the bellhousing. Probably have to use a right hand bank exhaust manifold on the left bank to do that but should be possible.

There are loads of videos on YouTube, some mild, others wild, some in Russian, others in Dutch (with broken English and/or subtitles), more in American English and even more after that.

I'm sure if you worked the Lexus loom back far enough you'd find a point where you could cut out the relevant bits for the fuel/ignition management and graft it in place of the original Volvo bits.

Overall it's about the same length (perhaps shorter?) than the redblock, about the same sort of weight so physically it'll fit, the rest is the usual jiggery-pokery needed when transplanting an "alien" engine. :thumbs-up:

I have some, but they won't be for sale just yet, plus they haven't been used for over a year so they would need servicing.

I'd recommend using the part number to search for the injectors as Dave (Laird Scooby) has suggested. You should be able to find out what year and model Volvo's these were fitted to. You should then be able to hopefully find someone that is breaking a car who's willing to sell you all 5 from the T5's these were fitted to.

Oh now you want sauce with your chips! Bloody european union has a lot to answer for. BITD we english were happy with a splash of vinegar.

I do know a few B230 engines have produced mayonaise from time to time - are you prepared to go Belgian on your frites?

Yes and in general, it doesn't. Work that is.

It alters the resistance the ECU sees on the CTS allegedly to fool the ECU into thinking the engine is colder than it is and therefore needs more fuel. However doing this on a hot engine just causes it to run rich and worst case scenario, you get fuel wash of the bores. Either way it doesn't do what it's intended to.

In my opinion, the only sort of chips to have are those with salt and vinegar!

I'll get my coat!

What would you do instead Dave? I'd like to get Me7 injectors for my 940 too but if that's the outcome then I will be thinking again about the resistor mod.

Which resistor mod are you referring to Luke? The one i'm referring to is a small resistor (often sold as a "tuning chip" on fleabay) that fits on to the CTS, as you've worded it together are you referring to the injector resistor delete instead?
