Hi,

Turning too rapidly can cause the indicators to not click back to normal position.
But a worn lever in the stalk or column will be the usual answer.

Not sure whether you'd need a new stalk or some other part to resolve...

My v70 had the same fault when turning left. I found that after studying it for a while I was able to place a drop of superglue in the appropriate place and zap it with some activator to make it set quick in a blob before it sagged, did the trick. It’s been fine for the last 10k.
You could always pay the nice man at volvo £200.00 or so to fix it for you. (ye right)

Default I had same problem.....

.....on my 480s - the right hand indicator didn't knock off, turning gently or otherwise. Got onto ebay and found a complete set (indicator arm, wiper arm, plus middle section to hold them on the column) for £10. I paid £3 for the right size socket, half an hour with the Haines manual and lo! I now have indicators that cancel !

Hi,

Yes, a second hand stalk will do the trick, try some volvo breakers and ebay of course...

Default Alignment and centering

If your front end alignment is out and the steering wheel is off centre when travelling straight ahead, the cancelling mechanism is also out of alignment.

Cancelling would still occur but only when the steering wheel is centred. Generally delays cancelling in one direction, and brings it on earlier in the other direction. Often an early indication that suspension bushes are failing.

have you solved the problem yet mate? if not i bet it is to do with the little flimsy thing at the end of the indicator stalk behind the sterring wheel. dont remember if you have to take off the steering wheel but if you do i feel sorry for you if you have the facelift model with airbag lol. but anyway jus a new stalk will do make sure if you get a 2nd hand 1 the canceler works. if you didnt understand what i meant let me know and ill send you a pic also i have about 3 indicator stalks if you 1... scrappy charge bout a fiver

My V70 has done the same. It seems I'd need to make a fair size blob, probably about 1-1.5cm tall. Is that what you did?
