Default Just spent my hard earned pennies

Kinda bought myself a 480 turbo, collected today, runs fairly well, central locking needs looking as, as only works from passenger door (but now know alarm works )

has a bit of dodgy paintwork, and few rust bubbles and bits on O/S rear wing, but other than that bodywork not bad for a 21 yr old banger, needs a good service, timing belt etc, and will get it up on stands and have a prod a poke around underneath, totally standard, all the info stuff etc works, and only bulb not working is in the clock.

was impulse purchase, and eventually wife will forgive me, Volvo No 22 - or is it 23, haven't owned a 480, and so felt need to, b4 they are all either rotting in a breakers yard, wrapped in cotton wool and sold for silly money, or modded to death.

Not sure how long I will keep it, plan to keep it standard, like the T4 and D5, been down the modding route with the T5, was much fun to drive, performed well on track, but averaging sub 20mpg and only on super unleaded, took away some of the fun, once serviced I will probably take it on track at least once, just to see how it runs, when driven properly

Welcome to the club!!

Just so you know: There's only a motor in the passenger door, I fell into the trap of thinking there was something wrong when I first got mine!

Get some pics up in the showroom

but if I lock from the drivers side, the passenger door doesn't lock, if I manually lock passenger door, then lock drivers door, passenger door unlocks, so have to lock drivers door, then passenger door.

Well done Cookie - enjoy your new toy!

A bit confused about your locks though: on a 480 central locking is only operated from driver's door, so locking/unlocking drivers door should do both; locking passenger door should only do passenger door.

Your central locking is presumably "talking" to the passenger door, then, if locking driver's door unlocks passenger door - just the wrong way round!

Hmmm...central locking is a CEM function; perhaps a relay in the CEM is playing up?

Will probably just disconnect motor, as alarm sets on locking drivers door, just a bit of a shock when checked passenger door, it opened and alarm went off

Hmm...

Perhaps the CEM is having a "Senior moment" and throwing a wobbler.

Try.disconnecting the battery overnight, it may reset.

My alarm has armed before now without even locking the doors, very random!!

Like I say, welcome to 480 ownership.

I think the 480 was Volvo's attempt at making an Alfa Romeo - They try your patience and play silly buggers a lot of the time, but when they just "Work" they really are fantastic little cars with loads of character!!

It is great fun to drive, the NS back light has a crack across top, they are very faded, and sun damaged, oil, filter and plugs for starters, when I get a chance, its a bit skittish in corners, but will corner happily at speed, and stays flatter than T4, so think some of the bushes may be a bit worn, or could be the nankangs on the front and P6000's on rear, probably been driven harder in past 24 hrs than in the past 21 years, runs happily to red line, oil pressure seems fine, boost only shows to just past 12 O'clock on WOT, is that about right or is it a bit low, although no flutter, and power comes in smoothly.

The boost doesn't go much further past there, at least not on my 460 turbo.

The boost guage is only for show though really and not calibrated.

I've lowered my 480 by 40mm and my god it really does go round corners now!!

I'm going to hold my hands up and say I was very tempted to put in a bid after selling My Celebration, Poppy the other day but got put off by the fact it was desperate for some love and couldn't afford to sort it

Look like a great buy though if you can do the work yourself!

Keep us updated.

Goes just to the start of the red on my 460 but that is with a Robou ECU, and I can get to injection cut off in Pollution (past the red zone) but she is poorly-ill and doesn't like it
