Replace 12v lighter with usb

Hi
i want to replace the pointless 12v "cigarette" socket with a flush usb socket in the rear centre tunnel
is there a guide on how to remove the trim to get at it please

yes - thats what I want to use ......... but need to know how to get at the back of the trim to remove the existing and then replace with one of those

I'd recommend you just buy one of the many that just plug into the cigar socket. Make sure you get one with the right output for your need (some are just 1A, you may need 2.1A). You can get dual ones - I have several in my car - again make sure if you need 2.1A out of each socket you get the right one as often you'd only get his from the one. Most fit fairly flush. Don't get one with the 'useful' led on it, unless you want it.

Just buy a couple of these. Flush fit and just plug and play, there are cheaper or more expensive ones, these were just picked at random, I use two other makes in my XC90, one in the front and one at the rear of the centre console.

I've got a double charger USB unit fitted to my front socket. It is more or less flush fitting and easily fits under the sliding cover in the front consul. It can't shut when a cable is fitted though.
In the cargo area of the XC90 I have a fridge plugged in the socket, but only when needed. Otherwise the rear facing camera is plugged in, probably 95% of the time.

Often my phone is charging through a cable fitted to centre armrest, my wife charges through one with the adapter in the socket behind the gear lever and I might have a battery pack in the other. Another USB adapter in the middle seat area often charges one of two cameras which charge directly through USB with the battery in-situ.

Most of the time only one or two USB points are in use at a time of course. All charge sockets are permanently occupied with either USB charger or device plus the front camera is wired underneath to the front charge socket.
