Cheers Andrew, I had thought I’d rebuild the wiper motor during the project, but you know how to taunt and tempt a chap.

First expenditure of many, his other stuff also tempting, but had to look away😀

Bingo, bit rough idle but that should hopefully be able to be sorted with a full service, plus plugs, leads, rotor arm, distributor cap, timing check etc.

Checked operation of everything, with some snags

Heater and fan, works although once running a few minutes I had a small puddle of coolant in passenger footwell🙁. Must be leak at the hoses to the matrix or I can just bypass the matrix for a year. Whilst mopping up, on lifting the flooring, noticed perforated anti drum pads. Are these as they came from the factory?? If so then a good sign she hasn’t had floors mucked about with in the past.

No dash lights
Fuel gauge showing full.
Wipers park vertically and very slow.

Oh well the list will no doubt get longer and longer quickly.

Yes, they did have those pads from the factory.

On a separate note I found this image of a dark blue 145 exactly same shade as mine was. If you blow the image up you will see that it is a very distinct blue - slightly lighter than navy, but does look navy in certain light.

Will be satisfying getting the small things done so that it is drivable before embarking on the full restoration.

I am a bugger for a spares chest!

A lot of the 140 stuff that bloke has is not expensive !

Yes, I almost got carried away, dash switches were very tempting especially if some ham fisted oaf manages to mangle things when taking apart.

Favourite phrase, ‘it’ll come in handy someday” I’ve just finished clearing all the crap and detritus out of the garage that I’d collected over the years ‘just in case’,😀😀

That’s great to know thank you, gives me some feint hope that it may just be a decent base car for a project.

Thanks for the link to the blue 145, and yes I’d agree it does look a bit more ‘blue’ than a midnight blue, plenty of time to decide, got to repair it first😀

Yes, hopefully if I can get things working and running properly it does 2 things, identifies items I need to source as replacements, and also saves bolting things in that don’t work. There’d be nothing more gutting, than putting something in a freshly painted shell and scratching the paint when it didn’t work and needed changing.

No need to worry, the clearing out was mainly off cuts of timber, electrical and plumbing stuff that I’ve accumulated over the years. All tooling or difficult to find car stuff were squirrelled away upstairs indoors, that she doesn’t know about…. Yet😀😀

Indeed, how many of 4x2 offcuts does a chap need, ahem, I had 2 940 boot loads t’tip of just those, if they’d not been treated they’d be firewood.😀😀
