Couple of funny issues..

Hi guys!

Have a couple of funny issues with my 2004 xc90 2.4.

First one is, the cruise control doesnt work. It hasnt since I’ve owned it. The lights on the buttons do turn on, but I’ve been able to activate the cruise.

But, the other day my car wouldnt start as there wasnt enough power in the battery.. I had to jump it, but the batteries were only hooked up for a minute or 2. On the journey following the jump start, the cruise worked! Since then it has gone back to usual with no luck so christ knows what happened there.

The second thing is that I get a funny whining sound between around 35mph and 60mph. Only when under power. I could take my foot of the accelerator and it immediately disaapears. It returns the second my foot is back on the accelerator, and doesnt seem to make a difference what gear I’m in.

Any ideas of either of these things?

Regarding cruise control and battery: I would first recommend you put a battery charger on the car overnight. Sounds like you had a weak battery

You can also use VIDA to read out how many times the car has registered low battery voltage and gone into battery protection mode. That gives you an indication as to the age and health of the battery.

I've seen this issue mentioned several times before on this forum due to the Clutch position sensor on a manual.

Worth checking.
